Based in the woods, the course will cover timber selection, techniques and timings required for a successful charcoal burn.
Using a steel ring kiln, you will learn to prepare and stack the timber for an efficient burn. You will then follow the process of lighting and closing down the kiln to produce high quality British hardwood charcoal.
If you wish to arrange to get mucky and take part in the kiln opening several days later, this can be organised along with grading and bagging the produce. Of course you will be able to take a few kilos home with you to impress your friends and family!
Lunch and other refreshments will be provided.
Price: £100 per day for 1 person plus £50 per day for each additional person. Taking part in grading and bagging is optional and free..(Includes all materials and ‘coppicer’s lunch’)
